The Korean carmaker KG Mobility (KGM) is taking the next step in its development in the Frankfurt RheinMain region: the company has opened its headquarters in Eschborn and is taking over the import and sales business in the German market under its own management, which goes hand in hand with a major model offensive.
Adnan Shaikh, Mayor of Eschborn: "Eschborn is part of the dynamic Frankfurt RheinMain region and offers international companies numerous location advantages - including excellent infrastructure, short distances, proximity to Frankfurt International Airport and an excellent quality of life. The regional bypass West, which is currently under construction and will provide a direct link to the airport, will give our location a real boost. We are internationally networked and offer innovative companies the best conditions to write their economic success story here. The establishment of KG Mobility enriches Eschborn as a business location, strengthens the flourishing Korean business landscape in Eschborn and thus the entire Frankfurt RheinMain region".
KG Mobility is the fourth largest car manufacturer in South Korea. Formerly known as SsangYong, the company was founded in 1954. KGM Europe GmbH - a wholly owned subsidiary of the manufacturer - plans to drive the brand's growth in Germany from its base in Eschborn. To this end, the four-wheel drive specialist's product range will be expanded in the coming weeks and months. In addition to additional models, the company is also positioning itself more broadly and diversely in terms of drive systems. KGM already has an all-electric SUV on the market today, with more electrified vehicles to follow.
"As one of the most demanding automotive markets in the world, Germany plays a central role in KGM's growth plans. With the right mix of sporty, rugged all-rounders, striking design and efficient powertrains, we want to expand our presence in the German market, the heart of Europe, and win new customers," said Hoijong Ha, Managing Director of KGM Europe GmbH.
FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH International Marketing of the Region (FRM GmbH) has been in close contact with KGM for many years and supported the company (then known as SsangYong) in establishing its first German sales office in Frankfurt-Niederrad in 2015.
FRM GmbH also acted as the company's point of contact when it came to setting up its new headquarters, in close cooperation with the Eschborn business development agency, and supported KG Mobility in its search for suitable real estate, among other things.
"The establishment of KG Mobility's headquarters in Eschborn shows that our region continues to be attractive for Asian car manufacturers. In addition to KGM, Korean manufacturers such as Kia in Frankfurt and Hyundai in Offenbach and Rüsselsheim are also represented here. Our region is home to the largest Korean business community in Europe, with around 12,500 Koreans currently living here. In addition to our central location and excellent connections in Germany, the European Union and worldwide, this is also due to our pronounced internationality and excellently trained specialists and managers," says Eric Menges, President & CEO FRM GmbH.
